Three men standing together holding an oversized Union State Bank check for $2,000.00 made out to South Central Kansas Medical Center

December 10, 2018 (Arkansas City, KS) – Representatives from Union State Bank are hoping to kick-off some holiday cheer for South Central Kansas Medical Center with a significant donation through the Legacy Foundation’s Arkansas City Community Health Fund.

Union State Bank CEO Eric Kurtz, and Arkansas City Market President Lance Niles presented a $2,000.00 donation to Jeff Bowman, SCKMC’s Chief Executive Officer.

“Union State Bank is a very strong supporter of the medical community in Cowley County. When SCKMC approached the bank about helping with the matching grant for physician recruitment, we felt compelled to help,” Niles said.

Union State Bank’s donation will be combined with other donations into a fund, started by Robert Warrender Trust, granting the hospital up to $100,000 for the purpose of physician recruitment. For every two dollars donated to the fund, the Warrender Trust will contribute one dollar.

“South Central Kansas Medical Center appreciates the continued support of Union State Bank. Their leadership, as we strive to meet the match offered by the Robert Warrender Trust, is especially appreciated as we near the December 31st deadline. Union State Bank and South Central Kansas Medical Center demonstrates how we are better together,” Bowman said.

Over the years, Union State Bank has been a significant supporter of the hospital. Including donating the funds needed to purchase and install the audio/visual equipment for the hospital’s meeting spaces.

“We understand that we are underserved in this community when it comes to primary care physicians. We intend to help Jeff Bowman and his staff get the hospital on solid footing and bring in the doctors this community needs and deserves,” Niles said.

Individuals interested in contributing to South Central Kansas Medical Center’s Warrender Trust Physician Recruitment Fund should contact Legacy Regional Community Foundation at (620) 221-7224 or donate online at www.legacyregionalfoundation.org.
