Union State Bank is proud to officially welcome Midland, a division of Union State Bank, to the USB family. We are excited to be part of the Newton, KS area and look forward to continuing with the strong community traditions and talented individuals that work there. We truly are, Better Together!
Midland consists of five banking locations and four ATM locations within Newton, North Newton, and Hesston, Kansas. 
In October of 2019, it was announced that Docking Bancshares, Inc. parent company of Union State Bank, and Midland Financial Corporation, parent company of Midland National Bank headquartered in Newton, KS, had signed an agreement for Docking Bancshares, Inc. to acquire Midland Financial Corporation and its subsidiary, Midland National Bank. Following regulatory approval, the merger became effective on January 1, 2020.
Midland will continue to operate separately from Union State Bank until the banking systems can be converted which is anticipated to be completed in the third quarter of 2020. In the interim, Midland National Bank has rebranded to Midland, a division of Union State Bank. After the system conversions are completed, Midland will rebrand to the Union State Bank brand and Midland customers will have full access to all USB banking locations!
Rest assured that you will continue to enjoy the same excellent quality of friendly banking, bolstered by local decisions by the same experienced team of bankers that you have come to know over the years. To our Midland customers, our goal is to make this transaction as smooth as possible for you and to ensure that you are satisfied with your new banking relationship as a customer of Midland, a division of Union State Bank. We understand that you may have questions about your account(s) and how this acquisition affects you.  We want to provide you with clear, concise information about this transition:
  • At this time, there are no changes to your bank accounts, deposits, loans and/or other services.  We will notify you in writing at least 30 days prior to any changes that may occur. Most changes will not occur until third quarter of 2020 when the banking systems are converted. However, please watch your mailbox for information from Union State Bank and read it immediately when you receive it.
  • Please continue to conduct your banking business as usual. You don’t need to change any of your banking activities, and we encourage you to continue using your current Midland National Bank location as you have in the past; you will only be able to conduct limited transactions at Union State Bank locations until after the banking systems have been converted.
  • Effective immediately, you will have access to all Union State Bank ATM locations for ATM cash withdrawals, without fees or surcharges. Union State Bank customers can now access all Midland ATM locations for ATM cash withdrawals without fees or surcharges.
  • Your deposits continue to be safe, sound and readily accessible. If you have questions regarding the FDIC insurance limits on amounts, please contact your branch to discuss your accounts
